- Photograph damage or big messes before you start
- Gather guest items left behind by the door
- Note the thermostat, then reset to house standard

- Strip beds and start laundry first
Kitchen
- Clean and disinfect counters, sink, and faucet
- Clean stovetop, oven front, microwave inside and out
- Put away clean dishes; run dishwasher if dirty
- Wipe fridge handles and front; toss old condiments
- Restock dish soap, sponge, dish towels, trash bags
- Coffee maker: new filter, clean carafe, coffee, tea
- Check toaster, kettle, and small appliances work
Bathrooms
- Disinfect toilet, seat, base, and handle
- Scrub tub or shower, fixtures, and grout lines
- Clean mirror, counter, sink, and faucet
- Mop the floor, including behind the toilet
- Restock toilet paper, soap, shampoo, towels
- Empty the trash and reline the bin
Bedrooms
- Check under beds and in nightstands for left items
- Fresh sheets, pillowcases, duvet cover on every bed
- Check pillow and mattress protectors for stains
- Dust surfaces, lampshades, and baseboards

Living areas
- Vacuum or mop floors, including under furniture

Laundry
- Wash, dry, and fold; check for stains before folding
- Restock linens to par: sheets, towels, washcloths

Restock sweep
- Paper towels, tissues, and a liner in every bin
- Salt, pepper, and cooking oil, if provided
- Firewood and fireplace supplies, if needed
